Bali living costs in rupees, convert the whole budget, not just the rent

Bali monthly living costs in Indian rupees, with real rental medians, solo and couple budgets, a dated INR conversion and a test of a ₹1 lakh budget.

In Indian rupees, Plan around ₹94,900 a month for one person in a room, ₹1,94,600 for one person in a one-bedroom villa, or ₹3,13,500 for a couple in a two-bedroom villa. These models combine observed rental medians with estimated everyday spending. We use ₹1 = Rp 185 as a rounded planning rate.

Indian rupees and Indonesian rupiah are different currencies

This page uses Indian rupees, INR and the ₹ symbol. Bali prices are paid in Indonesian rupiah, IDR and the Rp symbol. A rent quoted as Rp 10M means ten million rupiah, not ten million Indian rupees.

Our conversion divides rupiah by 185. Exchange-Rates.org’s 2026 history reports Rp 185.17 per INR on 9 October 2026. We round that to Rp 185 for readable planning figures. Your bank or card provider will use its own rate and may add fees.

Price quoted in Bali Approximate Indian rupees
Rp 1M ₹5,400
Rp 5M ₹27,000
Rp 10M ₹54,100
Rp 20M ₹1,08,100
Rp 30M ₹1,62,200

We convert directly from IDR to INR. Dollar figures elsewhere on the site use a separate fixed planning rate, so do not convert their rounded USD values back into rupees.

Monthly budgets in INR

The room budget is for one adult eating mostly simple meals with limited paid leisure. The solo villa budget allows more for food and activities. The couple budget covers two adults, including two sets of personal costs, in a two-bedroom villa.

Rent in Bali, expressed in Indian rupees

All Bali Rentals’ snapshot was updated 26 October 2026. These are explicit monthly asking rents, separated by property type and bedroom count.

Home Median monthly rent in IDR In INR Sample size
Room Rp 7.9M ₹42,400 98
One-bedroom house Rp 11M ₹59,500 25
One-bedroom villa Rp 18.5M ₹1,00,000 114
Two-bedroom villa Rp 30M ₹1,62,200 311

An inexpensive room is a different offer from an entire home. Check cooking access, bill inclusions and the monthly rate. Our rent index compares the wider market by area and bedrooms, in its original currency.

Is ₹1 lakh a month enough?

₹1 lakh converts to Rp 18.5M at this page’s rate. For the modest solo spending plan, the non-rent allowances total ₹52,400. That leaves Rp 8.8M, about ₹47,600, for rent.

There are 103 priced monthly listings at or below that ceiling, out of 924. This is a count of advertised prices, not a promise that every property is still available or includes the bills assumed by the model.

So ₹1 lakh can support the modest room plan for one person, with little room for extra spending at the median rent. It does not cover our solo villa plan or our two-bedroom couple plan. For the housing choices behind those totals, see the single-person guide or the couple guide.

What happens if the exchange rate changes?

The rent agreement is usually quoted in rupiah. If you earn in INR and the rupee buys fewer rupiah, the same home costs more in rupees even when the owner keeps the rent unchanged.

For a Rp 20M bill, ₹1 buying Rp 175 means about ₹1,14,300. At Rp 195 it means about ₹1,02,600. These are sensitivity examples, not forecasts. Leave a currency margin and compare the total cost of a transfer, including the rate and fees.

First-month and annual costs

A monthly total is not everything you need on arrival. Add flights from your departure city, temporary accommodation while you inspect homes, a deposit, setup purchases and an emergency reserve. Price flights for your actual dates rather than adding a generic India-to-Bali fare.

Twelve months of the room model total about ₹11,38,400 before those extras. If you sign an annual rental, compare the full upfront payment and the bills you take over. The one-year budget guide shows how to separate those costs.

Confirm entry and stay requirements for your nationality through Indonesian Immigration and the long-stay visa guide. The visa allowance in the table is a planning reserve, not an official fee quote.

How to use these figures

Use INR to judge affordability against your income. Use IDR when comparing listings and asking owners about bills. Before paying, recalculate the agreed price at the rate your provider actually offers.

The rental medians require at least three published monthly prices. Yearly-only offers, leaseholds and unpriced homes are excluded. Our sources overrepresent advertised rentals aimed at foreign tenants, so these figures do not describe every household in Bali. The spending allowances are editorial estimates, and the INR conversion is dated rather than live.
